Most visits to Transkei and the Wildcoast will start at Umtata Savoy Hotel your hotel in Mthatha (formerly Umtata). Port St Johns will be the next stop and here Umngazi River Lodge is your luxury accommodation and N'taba River Lodge the preferred hotel at Port St Johns on the Wildcoast of South Africa. South of Hole-in-the-Wall is Kob Inn Hotel the perfect Wildcoast hide away and family resort. The road to Kob Inn is sometimes bad and we advise you to hire a Mitsibutshi Triton 4X4 from Temba Car Hire. This is a luxurious automatic vehicle and perfect for these roads.

If you drive North from Hole-in-the-Wall with you hired car you will get to Kwazulu Natal , South Africa's most Eastern province and also the province with the highest mountains and highest rainfall. Kwazulu Natal is home to the Zulu nation and the Drakensberg Mountains. Near Underberg in the Drakensberg Mountains is Amazian Mountain River Lodge, a place which is just as romantic as Hole-In-The-Wall along the Wildcoast

Namibia is very different to the Wildcoast. After your stay in Hole-in-the Wall consider the hotels of Namibia where you can do your Namibia bookings with Temba Safari. Your first stop will be Grunau, 12 hours drive from Hole-in-the-Wall. Grunau Lodge offers self-catering accommodation and Grunau Country House bed and breakfast accommodaion Grunau namibia a days drive from Hole-in-the-wall. In the same region is Orange River Lodge self-catering accommodation in Noordoewer near the South African border. From Grunau, can can drive to Swakopmund, 15 hours drive from Hole-in-the-Wall. At Swakopmund Accommodation you can do your Swakopmund lodge and hotel accommodation reservations. If the drive is too long from Hole-inThe-Wall you can overnight at Sossusvlei Lodge which is a luxury lodge near Sossusvlei in Namibia, or at Sossusvlei Desert Lodge self-catering accommodation near Sesriem and 16 hours drive from Hole-in-the-Wall and the Transkei Wildcoast.

Perhaps you want to drive from Hole-In-The-Wall to the Namibian capital of Windhoek. The drive from Hole-In-The-Wall to Windhoek will take you three days. You can select your lodge in Windhoek at Windhoek Accommodation or simply book your self-catering accommodation at Arebbusch Self-Catering. Arebbusch offers self-catering accommodation similiar to Hole-in-the-Wall near Coffee Bay in the Transkei.

The best would be to drive from Hole-In-The-Wall to Mthatha and to fly from there to Windhoek. To drive from Hole-in-the-Wall to Etosha and Damaraland will take too long. Select your lodge in Damaraland at DAMARALAND ACCOMMODATION or simply book self-catering accommodation at Etosha Accommodation in Etosha National Park. It will be three days drive from Hole-in-the-Wall to Etosha National Park where Etosha self-catering lodge offers the best self-catering accommodation.

If you want to visit the Caprivi in Namibia you can drive North from the Wildcoast and overnight at Kaisosi River Lodge near Rundu in Namibia. Kaisosi River Lodge is four days drive from Hole-in-the-Wall in the Eastern Cape. Once you are at Kaisosi River Lodge it is time to select your CAPRIVI ACCOMMODATION on Temba's online booking reservation system.

Your second stop in the Caprivi will be Ngepi Camp, a family destination on the Kavango River, also known as the panhandle of the Okavango River. Your next stop might be Kwando Camp or Mazambala Island Lodge along the Kwando River, which is 6 days drive from Hole-in-the-Wall in the Transkei.

Botswana is the neighbouring state of South Africa and within easy reach from Hole-in-the-Wall. Botswana offers a selection of self-catering accommodation similar to Hole-in-the-Wall which can be booked at Botswana reservations. MAUN is about 13 hours drive from Hole-in-the-Wall in the Transkei. Here you can select your self-catering accommodation at MAUN ACCOMMODATION. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta and you can hire a late model Landcruiser from Temba Car Hire in Maun to explore Moremi. Thamlakane River is a new luxury lodge near Maun. The Okavango Delta in Botswana is Southern Africa's best wildlife area. There are excellent lodges available in the Okavango Delta but the prices are higher than what you would pay at the Wildcoast and at Hole-in-the-Wall.

An overland trip from Transkei to Botswana, will take you to Ghanzi where you can book self-catering accommodation at Ghanzi accommodation. In Ghanzi you can choose between the traditional Kalahari Arms Hotel or Thakadu Lodge on a game farm a few km from Ghanzi. Here you can stay in meru-style tents or you can camp. Thakadu is not essentially a self-catering lodge but it does have braai facilities. Ghanzi is just a little more than six hours drive from Etosha Lodge

Your next stop on your tour from Etosha Lodge to Botswana will most likely be Gweta Lodge on the Makgadigadi Pans, or Nata Lodge on the edge of the Makgadigadi Pans. If you decide to take the alternative route and prefer similiar self-catering accommodation such as Etosha Lodge, then consider Woodlands self-catering near Francistown or Khama Rhino Sanctuary near Serowe for affordable accommodation in an eco-tourism destination 11 hours drive from Etosha Lodge in Namibia.

Most people visit Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana, and will either drive from Etosha Lodge or fly from Windhoek. If you decide to drive from Etosha Lodge, allow 15 hours for the trip. Gaborone is the capital city of Botswana. A selection of self-catering accommodation and hotels are available at Gaborone hotels lodges and self-catering. Our preferred self-catering accommodation in Gaborone is Mokolodi Lodge in a game reserve 12 km from Gaborone. Within the city the The Big Five Lodge is ten minutes from the CBD and Cresta Lodge Gaborone is in the CBD of Gaborone.

If you are interested in the Western side of Botswana you can drive from Etosha Lodge to Windhoek and then to Kang. Kang Ultra Lodge is the best accommodation along the Central Kgalagadi Highway between Johannesburg and Etosha Lodge in Kang, Botswana. From Kang you can visit the Northern Cape Province, but be warned that this will be a very long drive from Etosha Lodge in Namibia. Kambro Lodge offers self-catering accommodation 20 km north of Britstown in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. If you want to stay in Britstown the Britstown Transkaroo Lodge is in the main street of Britstown and 2000 km from Etosha Lodge.

Visit Upington in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. Upington is 9 hours drive from Hole-in-the-Wall and Upington accommodation will provide you with good accommodation. They offer a selection of the best accommodation based on value for money. The Kalahari Sun River Lodge is a boutique hotel in Upington while the Upington Country Lodge offers excellent self-catering accommodation in Upington. The Kalahari Monate Lodge is best for self-catering or camping 10 km from Upington on the Spitskop Nature Reserve. Still in the Northern Cape, but much closer to Hole-in-the-Wall is Britstown. In Britstown you can choose between Transkaroo Lodge in the main street or Kambro Lodge.

In sharp contrast with the high rainfall area along the Wildcoast, the beauty of Hole-in-the-Wall, lies the dry Colesberg area in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. Merino Inn Motel is just outside Colesberg on the N1. This is a three star hotel and is the perfect stopover between Hole-in-the_hall and Gauteng. Gables Inn self-catering accommodation in Colesberg is an alternative. If you are on your way to The Wildcoast consider a lodge in Hanover, South Africa. Hanover Inn offers affordable but very basic accommodation in Hanover, South Africa. if you need more luxury, Hanover Lodge Bed and Breakfast might be the answer.

If you want to visit Zimbabwe the best would be to drive from Hole-in-the-Wall to Mthatha and to fly via Johannesburg to VICTORIA FALLS ZIMBABWE where we offer a wide selction af accommodation.
